Description
Several Short-eared Owls invaded my area this past winter. Normally just one or two show up in Rhode Island but in 2009 at least 10 were reported throughout the state. Short-eared Owls are diurnal and are often seen hunting low over beach dunes in search of mice, shrews, and other small mammals.
