Aaw, he's cute. I love the warm colours here. Some of the twigs in the background are annoyingly blurred, like I see doubles. But the bird has a nice focus on it.

Very nice composition with the branches enhancing it all. The eyes and beak could be slightly sharper imo. The pastel colors are really pleasant as the background. The branches on right where they the result straight from cam or part of any post editing tweaks? Just curious!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I felt this photo was something special because of the coordinated colors and delicate background. Patrick ... The branches are quite natural. The effect is from a shallow DOF using a 5.6 aperture. Many of the branches you see to the right were further back and pointing away which caused them to disappear into the background. I did use Neat Image on the photo which may have helped in blurring them. Sometimes we just get lucky! Thanks again everyone. You are too kind. Matias ... you are AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Very good capture of s difficult bird. In most cases sparrows 'follow the herd' and are therefore very difficult to get close to or get isolated like this. The background is great, and though my first thought was - not the best crop/composition, I can see why you cropped it like this. It wouldn't look the same without the dry leaves at the bottom. I agree with Patrick and Purplerose about softness.
