Description
These might look like miniature Penguins and they may look warm and soft and cuddly but the fact is, they are Tree Swallows and are slowly freezing to death. Tree Swallows are not normally found this far North in the winter. They are insectivores but there are no longer any bugs to feed on. There was a group of 7 of these birds. They were visibly cold and shivering and trying desperately to keep warm by huddling together.

Interesting to see tree swallows so far north in December.
I realize you chose a high F-value to get both in focus. Its a bit soft (maybe owing to the lowish speed), though sharp.

I'll be checking for these same birds again soon and I do hope they're OK. It has become warmer here so maybe they'll be OK for a while and just maybe they'll start heading South to more favorable climates.
Thanks again everyone for your comments.

i really like the clarity of this image. because there isn't much color, the fine details of feather become the defining features. great capture
