Description
I captured this photo of a female White-tailed Deer in October in Charlestown, Rhode Island. She was with her fawn but still, I was able to approach her rather closely.She was feeding on Beach Roses (Rosa rugosa) ... a very tough and thorny plant. The bright red areas are the fruits of the Beach Rose and are known as "Rose Hips". They are commonly used as a source of Vitamin C in multi-vitamins.
